A Sad Day Indeed As of 12/14/2010 the leadership of Scarlet Phoenix announced that SP would no longer be able to maintain itself as a viable raiding guild. While it may have seemed a shock to some the decision was not made without a great deal of consternation. Scarlet Phoenix was born on 2/3/2005 and was approaching its 6th birthday. SP was a reformed guild from the remnants of Clan Bashemded. I presided over the final days of CB and launched SP with the help of several key members of the time who encouraged a reform. SP grew into a strong raiding guild after having to fend off the solicitations of higher end guilds hoping to pick off a few members at the point of our rebirth. SP was a guild built on the princples of integrity, loyalty and family and while the players changed over the years as is consistent with any EQ guild, the spirit remained strong. Over time we progressed and eventually enjoyed the number 3 spot on the server for a lengthy period of time. We dodged many obstacles but eventually like many mid range guilds our progression was slowly gnawed at by the fact that we could not compete with group content gear - it slowly made less and less sense to raid when group content gear was as good if not better for the level of content we were at. This became even more apparent with SoE's most recent expansion. While raiding should in large part be about raiding together as a guild the fact that the rewards for the effort at our level of progression (1 year behind) seemed to be trumped by group content contributed to a rapid decent into the pointlessness of raiding. SP Leadership having made the difficult decision to close its doors to raiding and effectively to existing for that matter, wishes well to all of its members and hopes that everyone finds their way to a guild that will serve their needs. To Speak to that Grey Hawke has offered to take in SP's members as full members without an app process and with a transition of DKP however this offer is not eternal and should be taken advantage of as soon as possible. Speak to Mayax in game for details. I will miss all of you and wish you all the best both in and out of Norrath Except you Geegen you can still suck a d(i)ck
